But the following forearm exercise has been around for literally decades. Matter of fact, if you go to any hardcore weightlifting gym, chances are you will find this homemade piece of equipment somewhere. Think about that for a moment. The Old School Broom Handle Forearm Builder

Remember, this is old school, so you'll have to rig up a few "unconventional" items to get started. Here's what you will need:


Broom or Shovel Handle
Strong Rope
Dumbbell or Weight plate.



Take the broom or shovel handle and saw off a one and a half foot portion. Next, tie one end of the rope to the middle of your cut off handle. Now, take the other end and tie it to a weight plate or a dumbbell (remember you are training forearms, so the weight should be on the lighter side).

Now for the exercise. Stand with your arms out, gripping the handle, palms down. Now, with one hand, do a reverse wrist curl and hold it there in the positive contraction position. Do the same with the other hand to match the position of the first. Perform another reverse curl with the first hand and continue to alternate.

You should be wrapping the rope around the handle, hence raising the weight upwards until it reaches your hands. Then, once you've wound all the rope around the handle, slowly reverse the entire process so the weight descends back to the ground.

Immediately repeat this again. After the second set you should feel some serious forearm muscle burn, perhaps of a magnitude which you've never experienced.

Now go for a third set. After the third set, your forearms will likely be SCREAMING at you. Eventually you'll get to the point where it will be impossible to reverse curl up another rep. You'll soon realize why this is some serious hardcore forearm training!
